A Lifesaving Society Program
The Swim Instructor Transfer Course teaches current experienced, experience instructors of learn-to-swim programs how to deliver the Zodiac Learn-To-Swim program. It teaches candidates how to apply their existing knowledge and skills to this program. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to perform all of the current LSS Swim for Life stroke standards, skill and swim-to-survive items. Candidates are evaluated through this practical performance.
As the Zodiac Swim Award Guide and Teaching Swim for Life manual are required for use in the Zodiac Swim Instructor Transfer Course, these books have been included in the course cost and will be issued to each candidate on the course date. Candidates will receive the Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification after successful completion.
Required Materials: Whistle
(If a candidate does not have any of the above items, they can be purchased from Zodiac at time of registration)
Prerequisite: 16 years of age AND Bronze Cross or or higher AND other agency learn-to-swim instructor certification (i.e. Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, YMCA Instructor)
Note: This course does NOT recertify the Lifesaving Swim Instructor award. Instructors must obtain 3 professional development credits to recertify. You can find more information HERE. If you require an additional credit to recertify your award consider taking one of the following courses: Examiners Course, SEE Auditor, Inclusion Clinic or Aquatic Supervisor.
